Large-scale Moscow's Attacks Cut Power Across Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities targeted in Ukraine
Ukraine's energy systems have come under escalating attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused power cuts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Several individuals were injured while residents in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and faced problems to water systems, as stated by municipal leaders.

Simultaneously, a minor was killed in a separate Russian drone strike in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, based on information from area administrators.

Russian forces has escalated strikes on energy facilities over recent weeks, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "substantial measures" from partner nations to exert influence on Russia.

"The necessity is not window dressing but firm measures - from the America, the EU and the Group of Seven - in supplying protection systems and enforcing restrictions," was stated in a social media post.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and several dozen projectiles attacked energy facilities, describing such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and repair crews were laboring to restore power.

A wave of strikes damaged electrical systems and civilian homes in the capital.

Several of the people injured in the strikes on the city have been transported for medical care, per statements from local officials.

Area administrators said the urban area endured intense attacks overnight. A seven-year-old child died and several individuals were wounded.

The attacks succeed periods of aerial attacks in the region, sections of which remain under the control of invading troops.

The whole nation is on alert for advanced weapon attacks, which are harder to detect.

Authorities told journalists that Russia was purposely seeking to destroy the national power system, with assaults already affecting energy systems.

Officials stated utility staff and government agencies were preparing for more assaults.
